My name is Julia Firth. I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, Registered Play Therapist Supervisor and mother of three.

I completed a Bachelor of Social Work from LaTrobe University in 2007 and since have worked in Child Protection, community based Family Services and counselling in clinical and school-based settings. I have completed advanced certifications in Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), Interplay Family Therapy and Synergetic Play Therapy.

My practice is informed by neuroscience, interpersonal neurobiology, attachment, trauma and childhood development theories. I use empathy, attunement, mindfulness and nervous system regulation to help integrate challenging experiences and emotions, gain insight into self and others and strengthen interoception and regulation skills. I have a holistic, collaborative approach and work closely with the whole person and surrounding systems to build safe relationships.
