Julia Firth
About Me
Hi, my name is Julia, and I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Work Supervisor and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, and I’ve been working with kids and families for over 20 years. I love working in the field of child, youth and family mental health and feel grateful for everything I’ve learnt and continue to learn along my way. Amongst my teachers are my 3 amazing kids who give meaning to my world every day.
My Approach
My practice is informed by neuroscience, interpersonal neurobiology, attachment, trauma and childhood development theories. I use empathy, attunement, mindfulness and nervous system regulation to help integrate challenging experiences and emotions, gain insight into self and others and strengthen interoception and regulation skills. I have a holistic, collaborative approach and work closely with the whole person and surrounding support systems to build safe, nurturing relationships.
Who I Work With
I love working with all people of all ages, stages, backgrounds and abilities. Over my career I’ve worked with babies and caregivers, kids of all ages, parents and caregivers, and whole families together. These days I mostly offer clinical supervision to therapists to support their provision of best practice and occupational wellbeing.
Hobbies/Interests
When I’m not at Lemon Drops, I love to hang out with my kids, walk my dog, practice yoga, go to the beach, go camping, read, listen to music and dance.
