Growing Leaders

Growing Leaders is a small therapeutic play group that supports young children in building social confidence through connection and play.

Rather than directly teaching social skills, children learn through shared play experiences, practising:

  • Turn-taking and waiting

  • Leadership and following

  • Emotional awareness and regulation

  • Flexible thinking

  • Expressing wants and needs safely

  • Navigating inclusion and disappointment in peer settings

This group is grounded in Child-Centred Play Therapy, where children learn through experience, relationship, and play — not pressure.

Who is this group for?

Children aged 5–7 years - (Prep – Grade 2)

This is a small group with just 3 children in total and sessions are run by child and family therapist, Vineeta Giri.

How The Sessions Work

Each session includes shared leadership opportunities;

  • Every child has a 15-minute turn to lead an activity

  • The child chooses the activity and invites others to join

  • Children are encouraged, but not required, to participate

  • Children are allowed to say “no”

Activities may include LEGO, art, simple games, or imaginative play, with ideas available to choose from.
