Amanda Tuckerman

I am Amanda, I am passionate about creating lasting change through non-verbal creative expression utilising the sensory, kinesthetic, affective and cognitive capabilities of art materials and free movement. After experiencing medical trauma within my family system, I had a reawakening of the importance of family, self-care and the resilience of self to heal, leading me to follow my passions of creativity and psychology. My time of study utilised resources to research theories and expressive therapeutic practices to provide practical and relevant restorative support to both a child population and their caregivers. Through this time of study, I expanded my crisis support skills by volunteering with Lifeline.

I have 2 children and I have lived experiences of one child with ADHD and the other enduring childhood medical trauma. I understand the impact an adverse experience has on all members of a family system. I am passionate about childhood mental health and the impact early childhood experiences may have on a child’s understanding of their world. My approach is to work in a non-directive manner, incorporating art materials and art exploration to build self-confidence and to support a child’s natural exploration of their world. I utilise a humanistic, child led, strengths-based practice, informed by theory, to encourage and promote an internal working model of safety in children. I am also passionate about the system a child engages in and supporting caregivers as required.
