Sandplay Therapy
What is Sandplay Therapy?
Sandplay therapy is a gentle and creative form of therapy that helps people explore their thoughts and feelings without needing to use words. Using a tray of sand and a variety of small figures and other minitures, clients create scenes that reflect what is happening in their inner wolrd. Developed by Dora Kalff and based on Jungian psychology, this therapy provides a calm and safe space where emotions, memories, and inner experiences can be expressed symbolically. The therapist offers a supportive and non-directive presence, helping clients feel safe and understood while they work, which is an important part of the healing process.
Who is Sandplay Therapy For?
Sandplay therapy is suitable for people of all ages—children, teens, and adults—(from 3 years old) and can be especially helpful during times of stress, anxiety, grief, or major life changes. In each session, clients are free to choose objects and arrange them in the sand in any way that feels right. There is no right or wrong way to create, and the process allows for personal insight, emotional release, and a deeper understanding of oneself. The combination of creative expression and a caring therapeutic relationship provides a safe space for exploration, growth, and healing.
