Kaz Porch

Hi, I am Kaz Porch, a mother of four children, past Primary School teacher, Registered PlayTherapist and Play Therapist Supervisor. My journey has been woven through the rich tapestry of my childhood, parenting, teaching, and play therapy and shaped by the lived experiences that have led me to where I am today.

As social human beings, we tend to look towards strategies, interventions and programs to ‘fix’ what we want to change, predominantly based on past education and behaviour paradigms. But these paradigms are shifting – extensive research into interpersonal neurobiology, neuroscience and nervous system regulation highlights connection and relationship as critical for change. Significantly, these developments recognise the importance that adult regulation plays in this process.

This knowledge has seen a shift in my practice, moving from direct child work to adult-focused mentoring, coaching and training while holding the child in mind. I offer therapeutic educational consultancy, supervision and professional development, tailored to your service and individual needs and for your context. I work with education services, educators and caregivers collaboratively from a place of safety and trust.

I practice an authentic, person-centred relational approach harnessing the powers of connection, empathy, compassion and unconditional positive regard believing these to be the foundation for transformational change in education. There is a beauty to being authentically you, held with no judgment in a safe and trusting environment that fosters self-compassion, giving a certain freedom allowing you to be curious, and encouraging growth, both personally and professionally. I believe that we are all ‘experts’ in our own lives, shaped by our unique personal experiences and my role is to guide and support you on your journey of growth and development.
