Kirra Clarke
About Me
Hi, I’m Kirra. I am a counsellor with over 15 years of experience in allied health leadership and therapeutic practice, specialising in supporting adolescents and young people through the emotional and developmental challenges of the teenage years.
Adolescence is a powerful and often overwhelming stage of life — a time of identity formation, emotional intensity, growing independence, and changing relationships. I am passionate about helping young people make sense of what they are feeling, understand themselves more deeply, and develop the confidence and skills needed to navigate this period with greater clarity and self-trust.
My work focuses on creating a space where teenagers feel safe to be themselves — without pressure, judgment, or expectation — allowing genuine connection and meaningful therapeutic change to occur.
My Approach
I believe therapy works best when young people feel genuinely understood. My approach is relational, strengths-based, and developmentally informed, recognising that adolescents engage differently in therapy than children or adults.
I integrate counselling with creative and experiential therapeutic practices to meet young people where they are, helping them to:
understand and regulate emotions
develop a stronger sense of identity and self-worth
build resilience and coping strategies
navigate friendships, family relationships, and social pressures
manage anxiety, overwhelm, and life transitions
Sessions are collaborative and paced to each young person’s readiness, supporting autonomy while gently building insight, emotional awareness, and practical skills for everyday life.
Who I Work With
I primarily work with adolescents and teenagers, supporting young people experiencing:
anxiety and emotional overwhelm
school stress and social challenges
identity exploration and self-esteem concerns
relationship and friendship difficulties
trauma and significant life transitions
emotional regulation challenges
Hobbies/Interests
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, camping, meditation, and breathwork. I am currently studying to become a qualified breathwork facilitator, deepening my understanding of the nervous system, emotional regulation, and the mind-body connection.
Time in nature and intentional breath practices help me stay grounded and present, and I love sharing life’s quieter moments with my partner, my adult son, teenage daughter, and our family dog, Ted. I believe strongly in the importance of balance, connection, and slowing down in a fast-moving world.
